About Japandi Notes

A small confession to start: real Japanese homes don't look like the Japandi boards on Pinterest. There are cables, plastic kettles, and questionable rice cooker placement. But underneath the everyday clutter, Japanese rooms are built on ideas that genuinely produce calm — and those ideas are what the Japandi trend borrowed.

Japandi Notes is written from Tokyo. We skip the showroom fantasy and focus on the principles that transfer: how light is softened, why furniture sits low, what empty space (ma) is actually for, and how a single seasonal object can organize an entire room. All of it applied to rentals and normal budgets.
